"The Ghost Eater grabbed me from the first sentence. Ms. Corvidae’s imagination runs deep with fascinating aspects, which blend together to make a read unlike any other. Tormented heroes and heroines reach out and squeeze your heart - each character unique, and you even find yourself liking the unlikable characters. Believe me, this is tough to do for a reader like me, but Ms. Corvidae does it every time." "As is the case in many of Elaine Corvidae's books, the women characters are strong and intelligent. Their dialogue is articulate, witty, and often they have a fair amount of fire. We are also treated the more gentle and unknowing side of the ghost eater, now just an entity, one of the undead. He must deal with his inner needs to refuel his strength, an act that sucks the soul from a life. There is a lot of emotion to their plight, and gives us a solid balance with the action and suspense. The Ghost Eater will call to you and keep you reading until the climatic yet poignant end." 5 Stars! "Here is an epic battle of nature, spirits, and magic that will blaze in your imagination long after you have finished the story! It is a stand alone novel, but (in my opinion) would make a remarkable trilogy. I certainly wish to see more of this world and its people. A magical story where anything is possible. Astounding!" "Every now and then a book will come along that captures the attention while fueling the imagination. THE GHOST EATER...is one such book. There's a wonderful richness to the story--a blending of the known with the unknown that borrows from the old to create a vibrant, radiant new. Ms. Corvidae's skill as a storyteller pulls you into the world of THE GHOST EATER and keeps you there long after the last word is read."
Fallen Angels Recommended Read! "Tyrant Moon is a spellbinding, haunting saga of despair, shame, anguish, and liberation." "This book comes fully furnished with a distinctly flavorful steppe culture, absorbing characters, fierce fight scenes, and horrifying internal conflicts. Tyrant Moon brought me to such a level of involvement, I often found myself wiping sweat off my brow, my heart thumping like mad to the book's torrid beat. Whew!" "Elaine Corvidae touches the emotions on every level. I experienced anger, sadness and joy as the events unfolded. The tension level is high throughout and the action scenes are exciting and easy to visualize." "Elaine Corvidae creates a remarkable balance between the physical, mental and emotional battles of Thraxis, Arrow, Balthazar and other members of both clans...The language is bold, clean and spare, getting to the heart of whatever conversation, battle, magic spells, suffering, or joyous occasion is occurring." "While peppered with magical imagery, there is a savage rawness to this tale that adds a unique realism to the fantasy elements, making it anything but familiar...So subtle is the author’s character development that we don’t realize we’re in love until she begins putting them in heinous peril, allowing us only a moment to sigh relief, then tensing us up again with the next quagmire. I once read that the key to good suspense is getting the protagonists up in a tree, throwing rocks at them, then getting them down. Elaine Corvidae gets her characters up that tree, then mercilessly throws boulders at them, making for one hell of a ride for the reader." 4 Stars! "This is a wonderful fantasy tale full of battles and magic. The different societies and how they interact is a wonderful aspect of this book...I really enjoyed watching how the characters interacted with each other and began to respect each other for their strengths ...This is a thrilling fantasy that I recommend to all lovers of fantasy." 4.5 Stars! " These are not the overnight heroes that much adventure fantasy suffers from. These are real people, faced with extraordinarily hard situations and decisions from which magic cannot always save them. Tyrant Moon is a fantasy novel with action, depth, and characters that will live on in one's memory...I would recommend Tyrant Moon to anyone who enjoys good adventure fantasy, especially those who enjoy a bit of depth with their action." "I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good stories told well. The characters and the scenery are wonderfully drawn." 4.5 Stars! "What sets this book apart from many others is that her characters are consistent with their own histories. Yes, they do change by the end of the bookit would be an awfully boring book if they didntbut how they change is part of who they are. Its a logical journey from beginning to end, as if the author had considered all possibilities and found the only path out of the maze of potential obstacles. This is one to keep and read again and again over the years." "The story is fascinating, and the three main characters, with their foibles and merits, are unforgettable. There is never a dull moment, and the love that blooms subtly between Thraxis and Arrow is so well done that it seems the most natural and inevitable part of the story...Elaine Corvidae has woven a wonderful, magical tale full of adventure, love and loss. 'Tyrant Moon' comes very highly recommended. " "It's been a long time since I enjoyed a swords-and-sorcery fantasy this much, but then it's been a long time since I read one as well written as Tyrant Moon. Kudos to Corvidae, and with them a hope for more stories of this high caliber. " "TYRANT MOON is an exciting romantic sword and sorcery tale that hooks the readers from the very beginning when Arrow recruits Thraxis. She is a courageous, intelligent fighter while he is an incredible character breaking the mold of Gandulf type wizards with his trepidation to even leave his sanctuary...Elaine Corvidae enchants sub-genre fans with a potent spell that the S&S audience will thoroughly appreciate and feel compelled to obtain her other novels." "***** W-O-W! Here is an awesome story!...You will NOT be disappointed in this book! Danger, many battles, betrayal, love, and villains that seem invincible! Highly recommended reading here! *****" 4.5 Stars "Tyrant Moon is an intensely compelling novel written with style...Both Arrow and Thraxis are people you want to know. As their tale progressed, I found myself pulled deeper and deeper into their world and, quite frankly, resentful of outside intrusions...I fully recommend Tyrant Moon...." "Elaine Corvidae has written a fun story with excellent interplay between the main characters. They are well described and believable with all the prejudices and hang-ups that two people from such vastly different backgrounds would have. I loved it! "
5 Stars! "This is a wonderful story filled with evil and uncertainties and rebellion against a terrible wrong, but underlying it all is love, the love between friends, between husband and wife and between brother and sister. I have to admit that I cried at the end of the story and didn't want it to end. This is definitely a story that I recommend reading to all lovers of fantasy. " HERETIC SUN, the sequel to TYRANT MOON is an action packed romantic fantasy that will be enjoyed by romance and fantasy genre fans. Elaine Corvidae is a wonderfully creative storyteller who knows how makes her audience adore her naively innocent hero as he overcomes magical and mundane obstacles while staying true to his beliefs. The heroine is his complete opposite but their relationship works because they believe in each other. Hopefully, readers have not seen the last of Thraxis and Arrow. " Heretic Sun is a worthy sequel to Tyrant Moon...This novel is a great read. It is compelling and enchanting, holding on to the reader until the very last word. Elaine Corvidae is a skilled author and well worth trying." "HERETIC SUN is filled with magic, adventure, danger, passion, betrayal and so much more! I've read this book twice and will probably read it again in the not-so-distant future. Ms. Corvidae has amazing talent in the fantasy genre, and she'll be on my autobuy list from now on."
Wolfkin "But this book...goes well beyond the standard stock-schlock fare of most fantasy books to weave a bright and vibrant tapestry of intrigue, betrayal, magic and love that transcends the normal limitations of the genre." "Wolfkin is a dark fantasy set in a world where monsters and humans clash every day. What makes it darker than other fantasies is that it deals with the ugly human emotions that plague us in reality. Prejudice and betrayal are common, and oppression, slavery, and torment are parts of everyday life. The supernatural elements that Cordivae lends into her fantasy make this novel tread the fine line between horror and fantasy..." 5 Stars! "Wolfkin is truly remarkable! It is a book of fantasy and romance, mystery and suspense, sorcery and danger, secrets and surprises. Wolfkin has it all and the depth of the feelings the characters display, the vivid descriptions of the danger they face as well as the cross species romance add to the story making it impossible for the one reading it to put down. From the beginning to the end of the book, its one big fantastical, action packed, romantic ride! ...I highly recommend Wolfkin to all lovers of fantasy and romance, suspense and danger." 4 Cups! "The characters are real and dramatic with an almost perfect balance. An unlikely hero emerges and is transformed through the course of events and no one involved will ever be the same again. Love is also found growing in impossible circumstances and defeats all barriers and prejudices. Wolfkin is a beautiful story and well written." "Wolfkin is a seamless and meticulous journey of fantasy with inspiring and addictive qualities. It is the first book in a phenomenal series written by author Elaine Corvidae that is drenched in ambience, detail, and fascinating characters...Elaine Corvidae writes with a mystical touch and delivers an enchanting world of danger and dark secrets." 5 Ribbons! "WOLFKIN is a wonderful fantasy tale, full of everything from dragons to wizards and shapeshifters...The plot is compelling, forcing us to continue reading and we are definitely surprised by some of the twists therein. I have been privileged to read some of Elaine Corvidaes earlier works and she just keeps better and better. I cant wait for the rest of this series to come out!" "Wolfkin is a great fantasy novel, addressing such modern day issues as prejudice and racism. These issues never overwhelm the storyline, but add to the strong natures of the characters and their motives. Ms. Corvidae created an in-depth world, populated by different cultures with different histories and beliefs, and then set her characters loose in this world. This background only serves to make the reader more interested and keeps them quickly turning the pages, waiting with bated breath to see what happens next...I highly recommend Wolfkin and look forward to reading the remaining books in the Lord of Wind and Fire series." "I felt for the characters while they struggled with their feelings and places in the world; I wanted to crawl into the book and give them a shoulder to cry on. The stories of their personal lives intertwined wonderfully with the adventure Yozerf, Suchen and her friends find themselves embroiled in, creating an action romance any lover of fantasy should read." "Ms. Corvidae takes you inside the minds of the characters...you become their demons and taste their fear...This is a masterfully crafted fantasy, full of surprises. The plots and sub plots kept me turning the pages as I read my way through one of the best books Ive read in a long time." "Descriptive adjectives abound on the first page of Wolfkin, the volume one of a new Fantasy trilogy, and so does the promise of a wonderful, rich, full, surprising story, a promise that Ms. Corvidae fulfills in every particular. I don't even like FantasyI never read Fantasybut this book I loved. It wasn't just the twists and turns, the realistic romance, the complex main charactersnothing in this book disappoints." 4.5 Stars! "This book tells of a world of magic and wizards, also dragons and a clan of people who can become wolves....I enjoyed this book immensely. The love story is so true to some of the problems men and women still face today...This is a wonderfully well-written story...." "A tender love story intertwined with actionn, adventure and several surprises...." " Wolfkin was a definite one-sitting book. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Superb! " 4 Stars! "With fantastic characterization and intelligent dialogue creation, author Corvidae has created a fantastical world with wide cultural diversity. For the lover of fantasy and fantasy romance, this book is definitely for you! A page-turner from start to finish, you won't want to miss WOLFKIN." 4 Roses! "Ms. Corvidae has written a stunning fantasy in this novel...The characters are so vividly portrayed...forcing the reader to know them and empathize with them. They will also remain in memory long after the final page is turned. The plot is incredible and compelling; making the pages turn on their own accord. Secrets and surprises abound, always unexpected and never boring." 4.5 Stars "WOLFKIN is a superb fantasy shapeshifter romance that will keep you turning the pages...Ms. Corvidae explores several themes within this tightly written novel, including prejudice and forgiveness. Ms. Corvidae has a vivid writing style that assaults the senses and makes you experience every detail of the WOLFKIN world. ..If you're tired of the same old same old, give WOLFKIN a try. The story and characters will remain with you and haunt you long after you've reached the end." Wolfkin is a compelling story with wonderfully written characters brought to life by realistic conflicts woven into a rich fantasy setting. The romance that develops between Suchen and Yozerf will appease even the most romantic heart. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Yozerf's emotional journey as he came to terms with his birthright and the prejudice that has always surrounded his kind. Add to that the excitement of never knowing where the next turn would take you made for an excellent read. I sincerely hope Ms. Corvidae continues the adventures of the Wolfkin." "Corvidae launches her fantasy world with clearly defined customs and characters. Suchen struggles to hold a position generally only men wield, and Yozerf struggles to hang onto his sanity after a life of torture and debasement. Corvidae keeps the reader guessing with several shocks in store, and the explosive climax leaves readers begging for more." "WOLFKIN is much about prejudice and mistrust...There is a realism about this fantasy that is not usually found in fantasies. This is no heroic saga. These are no heros doing mighty deeds. Nor are these humble peasants raised up to do great and wonderful things. These are very real people struggling to be the best they can be within their all too human prejudices and failings." "Fans of romantic fantasy will fully enjoy WOLFKIN, a strong entry due to the fully developed key cast members and a realm filled with magic that seems to exist. The story line is filled with twists and turns so that the reader is never sure what will happen next, but Elaine Corvidae never loses sight of the prime theme of her tale. Readers will look forward to more adventures in the world of Jenel perhaps a final confrontation between an amoral magic practitioner and an angry young man with an ax to grind." "Borrowing from classic literature and modern high fantasy, Ms. Corvidae has created a rich world peopled with realistic characters that will not fail to move you. Suchen demonstrates the true meaning of beauty, while Yozerf manages to combine the popular brooding, tortured, angry hero archetype with the strong, kind alpha male readers love. Ax, though only a background figure, is an enigma, who I hope is used if there are future volumes. The door is left open for this to be a saga; may it be so." "Wolfkin is wonderfully written with characters that show tremendous growth. When mixed with the compelling suspenseful sub-plot and a few intriguing twists, Elaine Corvidae has produced a winner! " "I will recommend this book to my friends, and will certainly add it to my 'Keeper List' 5 Stars for MS Corvidae's 'Wolfkin'" "The characters are so well written, that despite their special gifts, they could be your best friends. I empathized more with these characters than with many of the characters in my favorite books. This author has a real gift for storytelling and I hope she continues for a long time. Not using this gift would be a real shame, not to mention a sin. Five roses for Elaine Corvidae!" "**** A very good story here! Well written, full of suspense, and a small romance to boot! Definitely worth your time to purchase and read this fantasy novel! **** "
The Crow Queen "The sequel to the WOLFKIN is a terrific supersonic speed fantasy tale that keeps the readers on edge pondering what will happen next." "Ms. Corvidae has written a superb story. I was so glad to find my friends Suchen and Yorzef again and I traveled every step of their journey with them as I turned page after page. I could hear the clash of metal on metal, smell the fear and hear the cries of those defeated. My heart broke for both Suchen and Yorzef as they fought for their love in the face of all that was unholy. I loved the surprises, the unexpected twists and turns that made this book another must read. I highly recommend this book to you and hurry, because book three is already in my hands!" "Corvidae doesn’t sugarcoat her fantasy worlds: they are just as sick and evil as ours...Terribly fun and dark..." "I loved this book! Once again Elaine Corvidae brings us into a world so vivid it becomes our own. The characters come alive as you walk beside them in a foreign land fraught with danger that feels very real. I could not put down the book once I started reading, and even after I finished my mind kept circling back to the characters I had grown so involved with." 5 Angels! "The Crow Queen is a fast-paced, spine tingling story of betrayal, love, vengeance, and passion. My heart ached for Yozerf and Suchen. Elaine Corvidae grips the reader with a dark tale of greed, selfishness, and pain, yet there is hope that in the end love and justice will prevail. I could not put the book down, yet I did not want the story to end." "Ms. Corvidae shows yet again her penchant for weaving engrossing fantasy tales that will keep one reading through to the last page of the book. The worlds presented in this series are vividly drawn, so that one will see them through the characters eyes. Emotions are wrung from readers, causing them to gasp in fear, feel the shiver of danger, and the heat of desire." "From the beginning until the end this story goes at full speed. No one seems to be as they claim and everyone seems to have secrets, Yozerf more than others...Excellent tale and recommended to all fans of Fantasy!" ***** Vengeance. Passion. Magic. Power. In Book II in the Lord of Wind and Fire series, Elaine Corvidae flings us once more into the world of Yozerf the half-Aclyte shapeshifter and his beloved Suchen. Their passion is the one certain rock in a shifting, changing world of intrigue, danger and betrayal. But love, however great...offers no security when honor demands a sacrifice. I defy you to read the last chapter of The Crow Queen and not...clamor for the sequel."
Dragon's Son "Corvidae’s series has never been about the peripheral distractions: the castles, the darkness, and the magic. It was and remains primarily a character study about those who struggle with differences to achieve harmony and greatness. Her characters are not cookie-cutter heroes and princesses… their lives and emotions are complicated and often disturbing, as well as deeply involving. Corvidae has a gift for recreating real emotions in imaginary people; it just happens to be a plus that her characters live in a world rich in fantasy, magic, and dark beauty...In the world of High Fantasy, Corvidae is up there with Lackey and Bradley as a female fantasy writer who grasps both Darkness and Light, and the importance of both in a dark fantasy tale." 5 Angels and Recommended Read Award "I could not stop reading Dragon’s Son. Elaine Corvidae’s gift of capturing the “human spirit” and portraying it in a tale of betrayal, grief, love, and hope is a rare and lovely gift. I hope that she will write of Caden and the Circle Kingdoms again." 5 Roses! "This is the best book yet...This story is incredible! Beautifully written with vivid imagery and strong plot, Ms. Corvidae once again enchants her readers with her otherworldly tale. She also has incredible talent for getting to her reader’s hearts and emotions. This reviewer laughed, screamed, cheered, and cried throughout this story."
Winter's Orphans "Winter’s Orphans has a well drawn cast of characters, a vividly created setting as real as any I’ve had the pleasure to read, and a solid plot filled with action that rolls along with the speed and precision of well oiled machinery. " 5 Stars "Winter’s Orphans gripped me from start to finish. I fought with and for Mina as she grapples with herself and the cruelties of life. Elaine Corvidae’s gift of capturing the “human spirit” and revealing it in a tale of shame, hostility, reconciliation and devotion is a rare and exquisite gift that few writers possess." "Delightful fairy tale." 4.5 Stars! "This is a thoroughly enjoyable read, with an unusual heroine who must face long odds and her own dark side as, layer by layer, hard truths are revealed and the battle toll mounts. It's a story of friendship and sacrifice, personal power vs. equality and basic rights, misery and oppression vs. startling beauty and magical glamours." 5 Stars! "Full of action, and with captivating secondary characters, WINTER'S ORPHANS held me enthralled until the last page. The growing love between Mina, the beautiful unseelie, and Duncan, who is crippled and confined to a wheelchair, is deftly woven. The descriptions of the city are beautifully done, indeed, the background plays almost as important part as the characters in this story. I hightly recommend WINTER'S ORPHANS it transported me to another world and gave me a extraordinary glimpse of magic." "Wondrously written, "Winter's Orphans" is one of those true gems where not all you think you see is real, and has more than its fair share of delicious plot complications...In this regard, the book becomes like watching a master magician. Yet at no time are the deductions and beliefs of the characters irrational or unreasonable. As each veil of secrecy is lifted, as each truth unveiled, the reasons become clearer for even the falsest of assumptions. All of which makes the reality behind what is happening even more devious." "WINTER'S ORPHANS is a superb ORIGINAL dark-ish fantasy with a great romantic subplot. Mina, the heroine, is gutsy, flawed, cocky and sincere. Duncan, the hero, is intense, dedicated and torn...It's a tale of dark magic, of age- old revenge and totally original world-building in Corvidae's setting of Niune...I loved the book." "Winters Orphans bewitched me from paragraph one and didnt let go until I had finished the last page, craving more. Filled with magical powers, secrets, friendship, love, and betrayal, it is one of the most enthralling books Ive had the pleasure to read. I very highly recommend this book and thoroughly understand why it has won so many prestigious awards." Corvidae keeps us involved with colorful descriptions...and the...relationship between Mina and Duncan. Despite its bleak landscape, however, WINTER'S ORPHAN (sic) is also a tale of triumph, of hope, and of courage... A powerful tale marvelously told, WINTER'S ORPHAN comes very highly recommended.
Prince of Ash "Fans of dark fantasy will enjoy the adventures that Corvidae's realm of myth and magic provide..." 5 Stars "Elaine Corvidae deftly depicts the profound psychological wounds that twist how we see ourselves...Prince Of Ash is a spellbinding saga of love, acceptance, forgiveness, and inner beauty." "Wonderful, awe-inspiring, brilliant and gripping, you’ll get caught up in the adventure and magic, and most especially the characters, in Ms. Corvidae’s latest fantasy, Prince of Ash. Right from the beginning you’ll love Pooka even though you know he’s not exactly all good. But that’s part of the reason I did love him. You’ll admire Alex’s bravery as a mostly human faeling with very little magic in her blood, in fact none that’s useful. Yet, she finds a way to add her own strength to the team. And of course, there’s Duncan’s quiet patience and Mina’s kick-ass protectiveness." 5 Stars "This is a fast paced story with lots of magic and action. Fascinating! "
The Sundered Stone "The Sundered Stone is an excellent, character-driven, fast-paced fantasy. But it’s also a bit of a love story between Pook and Alex, lending tenderness to a plot that’s loaded with perils on every side. They fight against insurmountable odds to be together while trying to help those around them. You can’t ask for a better hero and heroine than that." 4 Stars! "Though he is a fae prince, the character of Pook is portrayed just like any other teen I've ever met. The character simply oozes innocence and determination, as well as a fragile self-ego. I look forward to the author's next trilogy. Fantasy gets no better than with Elaine Corvidae!" "Nocturne is a fast and fun read, and a prize for anyone who has a fondness for the old Robin Hood or Zorro tales. It’s a new slant on an old theme, and carried off with aplomb and grace. Lady Anne is a feisty young woman and her husband the baron a decent, but seemingly disinterested, landlord." At first glance, Nocturne is a typical historical, maybe regency, of a young woman sent off for marriage. Yet there are subtle touches of paranormal, which makes this story “other-worldly”. I really enjoyed that aspect. Although I love a great paranormal, this was a refreshing change. I’m also a sucker for a secret identity, a masked man, anything paranormal and Nocturne had it all.
